IIFA Exhibition
A group exhibition of paintings inspired by “Bollywood” 8th – 29th June 2007 - By Manasamitra and Persistence Works Gallery, Sheffield
As part of the International Indian Film Academy Fringe Festival hosted in Yorkshire, Sheffield’s Persistence Works Gallery and Indian arts organisation Manasamitra organised an exhibition of paintings by Shameela Hussain and Kamaljeet inspired by Bollywoood.
Shameela Hussain’s paintings were inspired by the 19th century Urdu poet, Mizra Ghalib, whose poetry and Ghazals are regularly used in Bollywood movies. Shameela Hussain believes that colour is subjectively powerful enough to describe and represent human emotion, forming the ability to visually communicate.
